I have read the articles on ported vacuum for two barrel carbs, and think that I understand? My problem is that I have three 2110's with 1 5/32 venturis and no economizer valve provision, hence no place to drill as per the instructions. My question is, can I drill into the throttle body just above the throttle blades and get the proper vacuum signal for the distributor?

Yes.  You’ll want to have the throttle blades at the idle position so that the new hole is high enough.  If drilled with the throttle blades closed, then the possibility is there that the ported vacuum will be active when the blades are at the idle position simply due to the new added hole being too low when the drilling took place.
