In my gasket kit for a 292 I had 4 intake gaskets 2 are one type of material and 2 are a differant material. Is there a reason for that? I have noticed on other kits that they had four gaskets as well.

Gasket sets usually include gaskets for small and large port heads/intakes.  They are probably different material only to distinguish one set from the other.  You should find that only one set will fit your intake/heads properly.
