my 292 engine is coming along nicely, I purchased rebuild book by Charles morris and am following step by step instructions, the block was bored .40 over and crank grind was .20, when I took engine apart for the rebuild I put all parts in bagies and labeled them, I noticed the instructions have a counterweight that needs installed but I don't have one, the engine was rebuilt before, is it possible they left it out, is this not possible and I misplaced it somehow, any help is greatly appreciated

The counterweight was not used on later Y blocks.  You should have a spacer in in the place of the counterweight if it was not equipped with the counterweight.

To add to what Charlie mentions, the fuel pump counterweight was eliminated in mid-1956.  Most parts manuals still used that older picture though when referencing the sequence or order the various cam retention parts were installed.
