Hey guys, I hope all is well.  I want to mount a fuel pressure gauge on my fuel rail.  Can I mount it on the very end of the rail, opposite from where the fuel enters and after the three outlets to the carbs (running 3x2 setup)?  I assume it wont matter since pressure is pressure but I have a history of assumptions not working out to well, hahaha....  If I can I need to drill and tap a port, but wanted some expert advice before I start making shavings on the ground...

Thanks!

Does the rail enter from the front or rear of the carbs? If its from the front the fuel gauge will end up facing the firewall. In that case I would drill and tap the side of the rail where you can easily read the gauge. Like you said pressure should be constant all the way through. Chuck

I used a 4 position fuel log for a while and just screwed the gauge in a spare outlet, was pretty accurate.
Had a little too many issues in heat soak in the fuel lines. So wanted to get them further away from the manifold. My holley 94s really hate heat. So ended up using banjo fittings with the primary drilled and tapped for a gauge (my outers have idle circuits and PV blocked and function more like secondary dumpers with the progressive linkage)
Put an adjustable dial regulator before the inlet and set to 1.5 lb.
Works pretty well and less leak down now.

Thanks guys, I added the gauge to the end.  When I get back around to that stage of my build I will see what I get!

Thanks as always, this site and the guys here are the best.

Thanks, Ryan

thanks,
Jealous you found a 573-I have the Offy-but couldn't argue with $25 at a swap meet. Still looking for a 573 at a decent price. Until I do the Offy is OK-it finished last in all of Ted eatons tests, but old school 3x2 is just cool.

Charlie price at Vintage speed has PV block offs that just screw in place of the normal PV. I also got the banjos from him.You will have to increase the jets on the blocked outers, I settled on 57s on them for the lack of enrichment under WOT. The primaries are stock 52. I think I settled on a 3.5 for the primary PV but don't hold me to that as there was lots of experimentation. (I also rigged a TH350 trans) behind it which steals some vacuum.-but I got it built to eliminate a kickdown linkage-which is a PITA with a 3x2

The regulator is a holly 1-5 lb and mount is just a flat piece of steel I drilled and bolted to a spare hole on the top of the water pump.

Put an inline filter just for easy access and extra filtration prior to carbs.

Vintage speed has the progressive linkages I just cobbled mine together and the throttle return spring is straight out of the Lowes porch door aisle.

Best part about the rig without the idle circuits is no trying to balance 3 carbs and if I keep my foot out of it it just runs on the primary and I get >15 MPG. If I stick my foot in it there is some lag until the outers catch up, but she goes well on the street but fun still.
By the seat of the pants I would say it is about 225+ HP. Enough to be fun but not too much to run afoul of Johnny law.
