Not sure about the dual side draft carbs. The intake looks like a nice piece and they are costly to replace on these babies! I know as a marine engine it would be designed to run pretty much half to full throttle constantly, so this seems like a good combination for the strip for higher operating range. Any input? Has anyone else run this setup in a hot street car or drag application? Looks like it could be an awesome intake for turbocharged application! Don't have the money for that right now...lol.

I have seen pictures of them installed in cars so they must at least work well enough to move a vehicle down the road. I don't know, but I don't think the design of the intake will be good for a higher powered drag motor. And, you're limited to two carburetors. Can they even provide enough air/fuel to support the full rpm of that motor? If you already have the manifold, then it should be cheap to try. It will be pretty unique if it turns out to work reasonably well.

While pretty neat looking the Carter YH series carburetors are only rated for ~70 to 80cfm. So with both you would be about equal to one Holley 94. The 1953 Corvette 235 ci Six Cylinder (Blue Flame??) used 3 of them. I think you would be way better off with a single four barrel.

Now I have to disagree with you guys! I think that intake would be perfect if turbocharged. And why need to stick with carbs? Two small throttle bodys from aftermarket or from motorcycles, one or two small turbos from junkyard and DIY or modified Ford 8-point EFi and it could be done to produce lot's of torque and about 300-350 HP. And maybe even with only two or four bigger size injectors fitted on top of that plenum would work. Just go for it! You don't need to be like others...

If I were to run a turbo with that intake, it would be majorly ported and I would likely run a big Holley in front of the turbo.

And you are of course aware that carb before turbo tends to wash turbo bearings with gasoline...? That is why most turbo carbs are pressurized and after turbos. Ok, people have driven that old way too, but fuel injection is the word to easier and accurate setting of AFR with these set ups. Oh, I forgot the nostalgia issue  .

And you can forget the intercooler if carb is in front of the turbo, cause you cannot cool the air/fuel mixture.
