ok. i need some info to confirm what i think is correct. 57 and up y-block 4bbl intakes have the correct carb flange bolt pattern to use modern 4bbl squarebore carbs(holley 4150 4bbl)???? 56 and earlier intakes use the teapot bolt pattern right and a modern holley 4150 carb wont bolt up correctly??? Thats the only one I found on EBAY right now but they show up on occasion. Watch the prices though! I've seen some go for way too much money.

64, you are correct, also the '57 up flows better than the easrly version, if that matters.

You should open up the holes to match the carb, if it is necesary.

Click on "Search" up above and then type in the words "Carburetor Spacers" - it'll get you more than you wanted.....

Speedway sells the phenolic spacer sized for the small holes in the early Holley 4150 base / "B" type 57+ manifold. Those original bores fit a 390 (modern) or 400 (original) cfm version of the Holley 4150/4160.

If you use a carb with bigger bores (600 cfm is common) you'll have to "massage" the openings a little to get a smooth match with the holes of the carb tapering down to the manifold size. Otherwise, you'll have to open the manifold up to the carb size - if not there will be a step and other difficulties to deal with.

ok. thanks guys.  Ya know, i have to compliment you all for the great wealth of knowledge you guys have ans share with others. It's really comforting to know that there are poeple out there that are so willing to help others. I know you guys have sure taught me alot about the y-block. I really appreciate it.
