I am using the original factory air cleaner. Thought someone here had already done this. Need to see if I can find the previous post. In the off chance that I will have to mill the intake I would prefer to do it before I put the engine in the car.

The local drug store will have play dough. Softer than clay, cheap. Couple pieces of it on the existing setup will give you your clearance when you close the hood. When I'm done, I send it home with the grandkids.

Spacers should not be a problem BUT its really more on what air filter arrangement you are using?

I got the composite spacers off Ebay to try to get better heat isolation from the carbs. and manifold. The spacers are 1/16 thicker than the original aluminum spacers. I would assume that this is not enough to cause a hood clearance problem but I hate to ever assume anything. I know the Mummert intake for the T-Bird is not as high as the one for the passenger car but I don't know how much lower. I can have the machine shop take 1/16 off the manifold but hate to do it if it is not necessary. Opinions??
