I want to get a good look at an original that has not been messed with when I get a chance. I got the PS right but need to space the generator bracket out from the block slightly to make it close to perfect. Should take one or two flat washers to get it right. Pretty sure I have all the right pulleys on everything. I remember having problems with the power steering belt coming off  at high rpm back in the late '60's when I was bracket racing.

I lined mine up properly several years back, but from what I recall I add the extra washers because the pump and the crankshaft were lined up, but not exactly on the same axis.
The bolt on the water pump is too long on mine as you can see by the spacers but it never came out because I would have needed to take off the shroud and fan at the time.

Thank you very much. This was helpful. For some reason I ended up with  a 1/4 to 3/8 space between the pump and the bracket that goes to the head. put a nut and a couple of washers to make it line up right. Ended up putting a couple of washers behind the crankshaft pulley to space it out 1/16 to 1/8 to make it line up with the rest of the pulleys. Things line up a lot better than they ever did. I have had belt alignment forever.  Not sure if this may not have started when I rebuilt the engine the first time back in 1968 or when I replaced the crankshaft pulley many years ago. There is a good chance that they never were perfectly aligned from the factory.

Hope this helps.
Originally there was a lug nut between the pump and bracket that goes back to the manifold which twisted it completely out of alignment. (Placed there sometime in it's past by an idiot.)
I'm not sure if mine is factory correct and as you can see there is a washer between the bracket and water pump and some washers between the same bracket and power steering pump that I put in to more precisely align it.
Ian.

Having stupid issues getting belt to line up straight. Also bracket from the exhaust manifold bolt to the pump is not linking up right. Got shop manual, parts manual, and CTCI Restoration Manual and none have the view's that I need. Anyone have time to post a few photo's? Got one thick washer that I am not sure where it goes and would help to see one that is right.
