Frank, When I used to run the FMX, I used the Ford-o-matic bell housing, torque converted and input shaft. FMX center section and the Ford-o-matic output shaft. This way I was able to bolt the unit right in and didn't have to change my drive shaft.

I love the smell of burning rubber in the morning!

Yes, actually a sleeve. That's exactly what I've done. You may have to build a flat plate to move the rear mount forward or back, Don't know on your car. Get the driveshaft yoke, I beleive the spline is different, and you may wind up doing a drive shaft.

Yes. Biggest issue will be the converter. Your Y has a different sized pilot (bigger) than the Mustang.

Tap on the little "magnifying glass" symbol for search, and type FMX. Years worth of discussions and answers.

I have a 54 ranch wagon with the original Fordomatic and its attached to a 62 Y-block that runs good. The trans may need a rebuild, instead of doing a rebuild I was thinking of an upgrade.I know some one that has an FMX out of a Mustang.Would it be possible to use these parts on my car?
