Wow, a leatherette bound version for 11 bucks.  Can't beat that.  I'll bet there's good info in there for those of us that have plain old Fairlanes.

Thanks Charlie, I bought the book. Ill letcha know what I learn. Thanks for the compliment. I really want to DRIVE this car! That's why I don't want to do a full blown resto on her. Cosmeticly she is plenty pretty fer a fella like me. I love her! But I DO want her to be in top mechanical condition. Started today with the front suspension. Did the work I felt comfortable doing myself, and I have a local shop that will do all the "A"arm bushings for me. Then I will install all the new ball joints and misc bushings, links etc myself. Then an alignment. Felt great ta get my hands greasy again!! Been working with wood for so long almost forgot how it feels to work on a car with 50-60 years of gunk. Cleaning her up n makin her road worthy again is fantastic!! Im lovin it, busted knuckles n all!!!

Rowen, you're not really into a 'restoration project' on your '55 Vic.  This book from Cars & Parts back in '88 deals with the resto of a '55 Vic.  It might be a helpful supplement to the shop manual you picked up.

On eBay use the search function to locate item number  221732059976

Another way to get there is to click the Internet address below.

Love your '55 Crown Vic!  Hope this helps.    Smile

Rowan: go to the classifieds here, scroll down to manuals on C.D. etc by Daniel Jessup, a member here. May be the way to go & priced very reasonably.
..One of the problems that shows up with factory manuals is, that they are intended for pro mechanics & sometimes important detail are left out or the methods shown aren't reasonable for home mechanics, bear that in mind..

The FSM is a great reference but it doe leave a lot out. A parts book is a necessary addition.
