Have a 63 f100 also, I too thought it was the wrong emblem (for the 6 cyl) but as others stated they went to one badge for all w/o V8. You can get a V8 that will fit from LMC, won't be correct per se, but can advertise the v8

No worries Dave. Seems there wasn't any external badging on the trucks from 58 to 64 to show if it had a V8 or not. I had a 63 F100 with a 292 that was all original and it had the same emblem mentioned and that's what got my attention to this thread.

Cool, I learned something. Just when I thought I had father Ford figured out..., it becomes obvious I don't. Sorry about misleading anyone. -Dave.

All the 63's had the lightning bolt. That emblem was used on 61 through 66 with the V8 emblem being used only in 65 and 66 for V8's.

I was wondering if anyone can help me. I have a 63 f100 and the hood ornament/decal is a gear with a lightning bolt through it. Is the original for the 292 or does that go with the straight 6 I know there is also the decal with the big v in it which one is correct for my truck or is either one original?
