What is the size of the metal hardlines from the carb to the fuel pump and from the fuel pump to the vacuum wiper motor?

I want to bend up some bulk hardine for this as I have a later mode Autolite 2100 carb on the car and don't want to purchase a reproduction hardline set till I rebuild my old Holley 4000 and put the original intake and carb back on.

I made all new ones from 1/4" OD steel fuel lines from my auto parts store. I used a Harbor Freight multi size bender. I can send photos if you like. I used metal rod from a coat hanger for patterns (good for oxy-act welding too). Good luck

Thanks for the response, I just didn't know what size cause with the later model carb I am plumbing into the large 3/8" Brake Booster port on the back side of the Autolite 2100 carb but I have a plastic reducer splice to reduce from 3/8 to a smaller size would probably have to do the same to the hose coming through the firewall for the wiper motor.

I also have some forming pliers that I just ordered from eastwood with their employee discount that ends today so I should be able to easily shape the hardlines for just a temporary fix till I make more progress on the restoration.

I will be picking up two 1/4" brake/fuel hardline with the flare nuts on it I think if I remember right I can get them in 24" lengths which should be well over enough to make the two hardlines so I plumb this up.

My stock Holley 4000 had fitting with 2 sized ports. Since I did not have power brakes the rear larger one was pluged. When I first installed a small base Carter WCFB I used the same brass fitting. When I when to 2 four barrels space was tight and vacuum for the wipers now comes from the front carb and nothing from the rear. If I add PB I will need to use the plugged fitting in the manifold between the carbs or go to the rear carb base. Good luck.

Sounds like a nice set up.  I thankfully have the original Holley 4000 and correct manifold that came off the car, but I wont be putting it on just yet as I got it running good with the 2100 carb and I want to slowly break her back in to the groove of things being drove after sitting so long before I throw the original manifold and carb back on.

Then I had planned on purchasing reproduction hardlines made out of stainless steel for the vacuum advance as well as the dual action pump for the vacuum wipers.

Those forming pliers are not that great to work with, when it comes to doing tight stuff [which is what the should be for] they tend to crimp the line..

I didn't expect them to be good for tight curves.  I planned on using them to hand forming the hardline on the vehicle itself.  Get the first part started and mounted on the fuel pump then use the forming pliers to put gentle 90* turns to bring it up over the intake and behind the carb.  Nothing too fancy and I couldn't justify spending close to $80 for the better tubing benders.  I still might have to order one of those tubing straighteners as it appears my best bet is to get 1/4" bulk line.  But then the reviews on those imply that they really don't straighten out the 1/4" that good but better than doing it by hand.

I have never had a problem with the 3 size bender like the 3755 from Harbor Freight. I have the professional ones of larger sizes because of my job as an Inst/Elec tech for power plants for the last 45 years. I always put some lube on the tubing before bending and have never had one kink. A friend borrowed one once and broke it trying stainless and they are not made for it. I feel they make good tight bends and I've included a photo of my fuel, and vacuum lines.. The fuel lines are 5/16", wiper vacuum are 1/4", and the Ignition advace line is 1/8".Once again Good Luck

DryLakesRacer:  I don't mean to sidetrack Rusty's thread, but the question stems from the nice picture of your dual quad set-up.

I have an acquaintance who is also working to use two '50s WCFBs on his y-block instead of  the Holley 4000s.

What are you using for air cleaner housings with your two early WCFBs?  Is what you're using made for the smaller air horn mounting size or are you using an adapter?

No Short Cuts. Yes I don't to hijack the thread either. I just have had very good luck that type of bender for our garage type work in replacing steel lines.
I've included a photo of what I use for an air cleaner. It is the original stock Purolator  one that was sold with the dual quad kit with the over-the-parts-counter performance kit offered for law enforcement and racing. As it understand it, mandated by NASCAR. Anyway the small base air cleaners are getting a little harder to find.  245/270 HP Corvettes individual ones fit but are pricey. My carb centers are 7-3/8" which is real close to the late 60 & 61 Corvette 270 single air one and it will work as that's the paper element I use. There is a nice aluminum oval one that is adjustable but it is for the larger openings. The only adapters I've seen are plastic and I don't know how they will hold up.
