DJ : Unfortunately, just to confuse things further, the reference site U refer too, contains an error re the 1957- 4 Bbl intake manifold. It lists it as ECZ-9424-B, for both Fords & Mercurys, instead of  ECZ 9425 -B..

The ECB-9425-B manifold the OP talks about is not the desirable "B" manifold. It's from a 55 T-Bird.
The ECZ-9425-B is the desirable 1957 "B" manifold.

Around here 120 dollars is a good price for a "B" manifold.I am using an Edelbrock carb but the B manifold will accept any of the square bore carbs.

Forget it unless it comes with the carburetor. I changed out my teapot manifold for a ECZ-9425-B and Autolite 4100 so I wouldn't have another carb fire.

Roger: I wouldn't pay $120 for the early intake, but might for a good condition ECZ -B intake. You asked about a "new" one.. There are only 2 types of new ones available, the Mummert & the Blue Thunder, they sell for around $400 U.S... It's your call.

Y-block manifolds will interchange from '55 through the end of production in 1964, except for Lincoln. Unless you are going to use the original style Holley 4000 series carb, aka the Holley Teapot or the Towering Inferno depending on who you talk to, you should get a '57 or later intake. That way a modern square bore carb will bolt directly up without an adapter. The '55/56 manifold will also take a modern carb but an adapter is needed because the bores are closer together. You will also need to get a '57 or later distributor because the earlier distributor won't work properly with a modern carb. $120 is probably reasonable depending on condition.

I'm wanting to upgrade to a 4bl and wanted to know if $120 for used intake manifold is to much or should I look for a new one? And... the numbers read ECB-9425-B. It shows it will work but that doesn't always mean it will.

  Thanks,
Roger
