Hey everyone, first time posting. I have a 56 Fairlane that I want to put a C4 in. I bought an adapter plate from Bendtsens but the bell housing they sent was the wrong one. I'm sure someone has done this swap before, if so did you use a smallblock or big block housing? On this one the starter gear seems to sit to high on the" half dome" area.

I’ll suggest calling Bendtsen’s and verifying what’s actually required. The only Bendtsen adapter for the Y that I’ve worked with used a SBF bellhousing which also has the same bolt pattern as a 240/300 Ford six cylinder.

Thanks Ted but I called and apparently this same adapter is used for more than one application. On the C4 you have to grind away about an inch and a half of the bellhousing outer housing to make way for the starter gear, I guess I should have read the instructions a little better.

That's why I bought a Flat--O adapter. Just install. No problems Hiside (7/20/2015)

You might be right. the only thing that turned me off to the flat o adapter is that you had to take it to get welded. if they did this them selves I probably would have bought thiers instead.
