I'm using the E4 in my 292 with a T85OD trans, 3.89 gears in the rear. It has G heads, 1.54 rockers, B manifold with 390 cfm Holley with a slight jet change, stock exhaust manifolds with dual exhaust. This is a daily driven both town and hiway, not a racer and I'm totally pleased with the idle, driveability and performance. I'm sure there are other combinations which might do better but I don't have the luxury of doing them, this is what was in the budget and I'm happy with it.

While Isky only lists four camshafts for the Y in their catalogue, they will custom grind almost anything. Here are the links to some of the articles published in The Y-Block Magazine of some of the various Y engine builds using non-catalogue listed Isky cams. Much to do with the camshaft selection has to center around your expectations in regards to idle, drivability, and overall performance. http://www.eatonbalancing.com/blog/2015/05/01/unported-iron-heads-can-still-make-over-a-hp-to-the-cubic-inch/ http://www.eatonbalancing.com/blog/2015/03/21/stock-ford-y-build-or-modified-here-are-two-different-approaches/ http://www.eatonbalancing.com/blog/2012/09/29/not-a-race-engine-but-maybe-it-should-be/ http://www.eatonbalancing.com/blog/2015/06/05/hopping-up-the-272/

If you link from here, to Mummert's site, he lists the cams he has available, c/w descriptions & recommendations re transmission compatibility etc.

Talk to John Mummert or Ted Eaton (you can call them or email them through the links on this site). They will help you decide which is the best cam based on what you want to do with your car. Both John & Ted were VERY helpful in deciding what route to go when I built my motor! Also I will HIGHLY recommend one of John's engine kits if you are doing a complete rebuild! EXCELLENT parts!!!
I love the smell of burning rubber in the morning!
