The ebay title is "1958 59 60 61 62 Ford Galaxie Thunderbird Generator to Alternator 352 390". I found it by putting "y block generator" in the search box. I asked if he had a kit for the y-block and he said yes, just let him know when I placed the order. The listing states that you use your existing brackets. Thanks for the responses! James Q

I used a conversion kit out of Ohio that was advertised in Y-Block mag, believe it was called "Lectrics" or something like that? I installed it about 12 years ago without any issues, so I would recommend them. Also, John Mummert sells alternator brackets on his site and so do many other companies that simply use a GM one wire (mine uses a GM alternator converted to Ford wiring) so you have many options. I would suggest buying the bracket kits and providing your own alternator, that way you know which one you used and if there are any issues, you can find a replacement locally.

Like Mike, I did a search for vintage builder on ebay. They had a couple of conversions available, but one was for Thunderbirds and the other was for FE's, but nothing for your application. Note that a Thunderbird application will not be a bolt on to a different application, 'Bird pulleys are moved forward about an inch.

Has anyone tried the gen to alt conversion sold by thevintagerebuilder on ebay? I am considering this conversion and would be interested in any feedback, pros and cons, and any tips. This will be on a 58 292 Ranchero. Thanks in advance! James Q
