There is a common off the ignition switch for all gauges except the ammeter. The ammeter wire goes from the starter solenoid through a loop on the back of the ammeter to a bus bar to power devices not controlled by the ign switch. From the bus bar it goes to the ign switch to power the fuel, oil and temp gauges.

There are several vendors supplying harnesses, usually in sections, i.e., underhood harness, dash harness, etc. These are OE style harnesses and are pretty spendy when rewiring the whole car. If you're not concerned with originality then a "hot rod" harness is the way to go because you will have extra circuits for future accessories and a modern fuse box instead of the circuit breakers Ford used back then. The advantage of the OE style harness is it will have proper length and terminals out of the box. You will usually need to supply your own terminals for the hot rod harnesses.

I have so many questions I think I'm going to be a pest.
None of the gauges work. Is there a common battery source
to all the gauges? Someone has done a good job of messing
with the original wiring, as there are splices and additional
connections all over the place.
At some point, I may need to redo the entire harness, but
can't really afford to do so right now.
Is there a vendor that makes/sells new wiring harnesses?
Thanks
Jim
