I have a 6v one in my Town Sedan highly recommended 

I have had my 12V Optima Red Top also for 6 years in my 56 Customline and feel they are great batteries. Plenty of CCA power for starting. I have no experience with the 6V batteries, but one thing to consider is what kind, if any, accessories you are running and will your generator have the capacity to keep the battery charged under those loads.

I've had good luck with several Optima 12 volt batteries. Just read up on the charger requirements for AGM batteries. I've got a couple old chargers that won't " see" AGM's. Have to put a lead acid in parallel. I'm pretty sure I replaced an Optima due to my ignorance, when I just needed the right charger.

I'm on my second 6v Optima for my 1955 Thunderbird. The first lasted over 8 years. The second has been in the car for 2 years and I've only had it on a trickle charger a few times. They work great even when I crank the engine for a bit after not running it for a few weeks. As another possible option, check out braillebattery.com. They make lithium ion batteries used in NASCAR and LeMans racing as well as other applications. I spoke with the company rep recently and they seem awesome. You can specify voltage, amps and case style. Though they are a bit pricey, they can sit on a shelf for a year and not lose charge. Supposedly they will last 8-10 years. The GU1R6 model was designed for older Porsche race cars and has over 1000 cranking amps. I plan to switch over sometime soon. It's worth investigating, especially if you aren't driving the car all the time. Either way, you can't go wrong in my opinion.

I have mine 2 years. Always started hard when hot from drag racing. The optima fixed that. I did charge it with the charger twice while racing last weekend. With normal driving the generator keeps up.

Hello I am thinking about putting a 6 volt optima battery in my 1955 ford Fairlane , the battery has high cranking amps. My question has anyone here used one and will the 6 volt ford generator keep the battery charged. Thanks for any answer
