My 55 ford mainline  suspension is all in good order but the car sits dead level.I would like to raise the rear end 1-2 inches.I have new stock rear springs, overload springs on the shocks and I machined up a couple of little 3/4" spacers that go between the bottom of the rear shocks and the mount.Anybody have any ideas? I don't want to lower the front end, just raise the rear a little.Thanks.

Well, yes thank you. but I really would prefer a different solution since I just bought shocks and am really happy with the handling.

Have the springs re-arced or add another leaf.

Vic is right.  That's the only way to get it up there in a safe manner.  Some spring manufacturers offer springs that will raise the rear besides stock height ones.  Eaton-Detroit Spring may offer them.

I don't if your up to it or how mechanical you are, but rearching springs can be done in your garage. If you have a heavy bar of steel( I use a 12" of railroad track rail) with a strip of rebar welded near the edge. Disassemble the spring, mark the starting arches on the garage floor with chalk to see where you are starting, then place it on the rail and hit it with a large hammer between the rebar and the edge of the rail. Move along the spring in 1/2" increments. Keep rechecking on your chalk marks. Do each leaf.
In the 50-60's this how we "reversed" the eyes on our early Ford front springs. The eyes weren't reversed the spring was arched in the opposite direction.....by the way I'm 71 and would bring my springs to somone else now. IMO if your adding a leaf make it right below the main leaf. If your ordering new ones...get them for a station wagon. Please don't reverse the shackles....looks terrible. Good Luck.

Thank you all for your help.Reversing the shackles was exactly what I was NOT going to do.The rear springs are new,so I believe I will just add a leaf.DLR thank you very much for the info on rearc hing springs.I have everything I would need  to do that.
