Original 670x15 on a 1956 Ford Crown Victoria. Conversion chart says I should go with 205x75x15 or 215x75x15. I do have real wire wheel rims and fender skirts. I have read that fender skirts may rub 215x75x15 tires. Looking at diamond backs - any recommendations welcome?

Thanks,Danny

For what it's worth when I replaced the 215 70 14s on my 57 I found they were narrower then the old ones. The tire shop guy, and this is a small family owned shop I've used for years and seem quite honest, told me all tires are actually made smaller today compared to the past. If you can have your shop mount the larger one on one wheel and try it first?

I've had two sets of tires from Diamond Back, both wider h/p tires, and I love them. No complaint against the Cokers which were on the car originally. IIRC, most of the 15" wires on our cars are 5", and a 215 is going to want a wider wheel. Ask whomever you buy from first.

I've have 215-75 Diamondbacks on my 56 Vic with stock steel rims and fender skirts for 3 years and they are fine. I ordered them with the wide whites 3/8" narrower which was fine with them. They were made on Coopers which I like... Good luck.

I'm running 215/75/15s on my 56 Sunliner  and 225/75/15s on my 56 crown with no problems at all and their on wire wheels as well.

Using F70-15 Wide Ovals on my Galaxie for quite some time, best tire ever. I'm on my second set.

Just remember if your car is lowered its a real bitch to get the rear wheels on and off.. And that's with 205x75 DB's !
