All you need to do is use the fields (the outer case) off of your Y-block generator...keep your flathead stator and end caps and install them inside the Y's case. All you will need to do at that point is get a 12V regulator and convert all your 6V accessories to 12V and you are ready to ride! Here is my Flathead with 12V conversion...kinda bad pic of the generator...but you can see all the end plates and mounting remained stock looking.

i have both a flattie and a Y and since i've been looking for parts for both, just wondered if a Y generator will work with a late model flathead, or vice versa.?
why pay more for flathead parts if they work on the cool Y?
