Gentlemen

I am in Maryland between Balto. and Annapolis.

If no takers here I may go to eBay for exposure but its not a money thing-mostly I need the space and I want them to get used for our projects.

As Ted mentioned, missing mains are a really big problem, as it takes alot of caps and time to get them close enough to fit tight and get line bored.   The have to be really close to fit the block tight, not to mention that the thrust bearing has to be perfect.

My last C2AE block I used had thick bores(not the norm for a C2AE) but was missing mains.  I had a bunch of caps and it took a ton of time($$$$) to find a set that would work.  They all ended up coming off the same doner block that had a core shift in the bores.

It came out to be a nice block but my machine shop bill was out of this world!

Save them as you never know and these block are becoming imposible to find as good cores, but I will always choose one with the right mains from now on.

So I have acquired half a dozen or so "Y Block"  bare engine blocks.

NO MAIN CAPS ON ANY OF THEM Angry

Are they worth anything? Or do they go directly to scrap?

Too bad the main caps are missing as it’s a hit and miss deal in taking caps off other engines and having a set that both fits snug in the block and with the holes close enough to each other to accommodate align boring or honing.  If you were in my neck of the woods, I’d be interested though as I’ve got stacks of cap sets from those Y’s that ended up being scrapped for having unusable blocks.  What state are you located in?

Sure they're worth something.  Missing main caps is not a big deal.  Granted, it may be difficult to find some.  Billet caps can be made.  List them in the classifieds to see if there are any takers.  Certainly try to avoid scrapping them just because main caps are missing.

Not a lot without magnafluxing and caps.  Some on here might be interested depending on location.
