I'm attaching water pump and timing cover on a 292. What is the correct length of the two bottom bolts (the ones that hold the timing pointer. Do these bolts just go into the timing cover or are they long bolts that go all the way through the timing cover and into the block?

Also, how close to the pulley should the timing pointer be? Mine may just about be touching the pulley. I assume I can just bend it up a bit to proper clearance?
