I got a carb problem that is driving me crazy. 3 x 2 set up, 8BA's on the end, ECG6 in the middle. 312 with a rumpty rump rump cam. Late distributor from NAPA (unmodified), not using the vacuum advance. ECZ heads, stock type pistons.
This is what happens. When I have to stop, the engine starts dying as if not getting gas. If I take it out of gear and just let it roll (off the gas), the dying does not occur and maintains regular idle. The same if I come up to a stop very slowly where I don't have to use the brakes very much. In other words, if I have to brake for a stop the engine starts dying. I can roll up to light or stop sign, off the gas and it idles perfectly, but apply the brakes to slow then the dying starts.
Is the gas may be sloshing around the carb? but I have gone through it a couple of times. Maybe something in the carb I forgot? Otherwise, the car runs very good with no problems when doing slow shifting.

This might sound stupid, but- do a load test on your battery. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago. The battery was so weak, that when the brake lights lit the battery couldn't support the ignition system. THAT was a fun one to troubleshoot...

Nothing sounds stupid except for my problem. However, the battery is very strong, charging is good.
