On my 56 the ground cable off the battery goes to the front of engine block and the positive post is toward the firewall. I have a small ground strap off the back of the block next to the throttle linkage to the firewall.

Where was/is the battery ground cable connected on the frame for a 1956 292 engined car?
Also, what direction does the battery go? Positive toward the front? Or, to the rear?
Thanks.
I know these are dumb questions, but my car has many things incorrect and the manual
doesn't show items like this.
Thanks
Jim
