Thats why my lash cap didnt stay in place.

What lifters are you using?

I lost a lifter like that last year. Found the pieces in the pan. No abnormal wear on the pieces, or any of the other lifters, or other lobes. 7 years, 6000 miles, not over 5000 rpm. Figured it was a freak failure. Sure took that lobe out though.

Those are Comp Cams lifters and cam is Schneider. Engine is runned few hours.
Starter didnt work properly when I got engine ready and there was maybe too much starting in the beginning.
Head gasket also blew sortly after break in and engine was full of water.

There has to be a couple of camshaft lobes that are far from pretty with lifters looking like that.  Ouch.
 
One of Randy Gummelts’ engines broke the head off the tappet like that and the root cause was traced back to the pushrod being too large in diameter and was rubbing within the pushrod hole in the cylinder head.

Hi, have you used Trend Tool Steel lifters?

Trend tool steel lifters tend to be the best and worth the investment. Been there done that and don't need to say no more!
