Good morning everyone,

This is my first post but I have been following this forum for more than a year. I have a '64 Ford F-250 with a stock 292. Has the usual Y-Block problems, passenger rocker oiling problems, leaking main seal etc. Has almost 120K original miles with no rebuild. I fixed all of the ancillary items (recored radiator, tune-up, new water pump, hoses, rebuilt carb, gauges, radio) and now I am at the point where I want to pull the engine and get her rebuilt. I have the rams horn exhaust added with fresh duals. Also have the Mummert alternator conversion bracket but need to wire it up. Will do the 3-wire version.

This truck is a combination work truck with the occasional date night thrown in. I want to update/mod this motor a little bit but don't want to go too nuts. I was thinking along these lines:

Mild overbore
Mild Street cam
Mummert 4-barrel intake
Either a Holley or Edelbrock 600 CFM man choke carb

I would like to retain the original air cleaner. I really like that trick Mummert Timing chain cover as well. I used to live a stones throw from Ted Eaton's place. Now I live a stones throw from Mummert's shop (been there a couple of times already) thank goodness. It would be nice to maybe get 250HP or so out of her. I am going to keep the stock 3-speed manual trans.

Is there any advice y'all could throw my way in doing this build? I am new to y-blocks although cut my teeth on Small block and FE Block Fords.
