I have just unbolted my second Ford 2 barrel 2100 carburator from the 292 in my 56 Victoria. that had a crack on the base that left the right rear ear on the carburator base broken off. Now I have 2 junk carburators. I know I tried to tork down all 4 mounting bolts to the intake evenly, especially after the first carb cracked. I can't imagine the intake being warped and I checked it with a straight edge and it seemed true. I then put the black plastic spacer back on and set a junk Holly 2 barrel core down on it and it seemed like it wanted to rock slightly. I suspect the spacer might be distorted. Do they warp or squash with age or abuse? Any Ideas? Also does anyone know of a good replacement for the Autolite 2100 with 1.14 venturi that I broke. High performance is not my aim as I like a motor that idles smoothly and is economical. By the way I have the hot air automatic choke. I have heard Summit has a good copy of the Ford 2 barrel. I also have an extra 1957 and up 4 barrel manifold that I might use should I decide to change to a 4 barrel, and I also have a 4 barrel manifold for teapot carbs. I have considered a Holly 390 CFM but they are quite expensive. Any advice will be appreciated. I drive this car daily and don't have a replacement carb to put on it and sure don't to break another one. George
