Hello all. Was wondering if anyone knows the thread size on the power steering control valve for where it screws onto the drag link?

It looks like about 1" diameter, but i cant figure out the pitch?

I had the control valve rebuilt, and im trying to thread it back onto the center link, but it stops about 1/4"+ short of where it should be, and i cant figure out why. (It didnt go on far enough before being rebuilt either).

If i knew the size and could get a tap, id run it inside to chase the threads to see if that helped. I suspect that they are galled from a previous life.

Also open to any other tips or suggestions too.

I guess one other question is if it really matters? If the wheel/pittman arm is centered, can i just adjust the tie rods to take up the 1/4" shift and still track straight?

/>Thanks!

had a simler isue with my 57ranchero, there was remains of a dowel which was to stop the cont vave from moving. i ground it off and had to use a pipwrench to screw the assembly into place. there is a clamp which is sufic. to hold it . the other issue  i had was with the after market high pressure hoses where to short, eventually 1 poped off. i went to a hyd hose outlet(cat dealer) they made me 2 hoses. all works fine now. did the repair 6 months ago and no issues
