thanks ted.this engine had maybe 40,000 on it i hated to scrap it but nobody wants a 239.i kept the parts out of it and sent the block and heads for scrap.i didnt think the holes would matter as i believe the alum,rods you are using dont have any.thanks again.

The 239 rods are interchangeable with the 272 and 292 rods. The oil squirt hole located on the beam of the rod is expected be on the camshaft side of the rod when properly installed in the engine. The oil squirt hole is opposite of the bearing tang slots in the connecting rod and cap.

i was given a 239 last night from a 54 skyliner.what an oddball they are nothing is the same.i wanted to use the rods but i remembered something about them and sure enough thr squirt hole is in the opposite side.can you use them on a 292 or is it out of the question.
