Has anyone ever used stainless bolt kits for a 292 rebuild? Does that change any torque specs or any pros or cons to doing this?

Ive used the kits that are advertised on ebay. No problems with torque settings, but the only ones I really pay attention to is the intake manifold (no head bolts or other critical torque setting bolts are included in the kit I bought).

Remember to use an anti-seize compound on the threads of stainless fasteners...

Johnson is alluding to the fact that stainless fasteners have a tendency to "gall" when really tightened up. Not to mention the extra cost involved in using them. I don't believe the Y-blk engine gurus normally use stainless for things like Head bolts, even for performance applications. Someone else may want to comment further on this.

Johnson Rod is absolutely correct on the anti-seize statement. Also, be a little careful, some of the kits use a grade of SS that's not as strong as the original Ford Fastners! ALWAYS use Never-seize or equal with them.
