The D in 1957 = 312  C = 292  A = 272

  The main caps on a 312 have ECZ stamped on them. The only way I can see where measuring would work would be to measure the bore= 3.80   and stroke= 3.44 for a 312. The 292 would be 3.75 bore and 3.30 for the stroke. You would need to remove the heads in order to check bore and stroke.

 

Isn't B= 272 and A = I6 223????

OS and new (reprints) i think are still available from Carpenter, CASCO and the like even EBAY has them regularly and CD/DVD versions if you're up for that.

being i've yet to get a manual for the car, how would be the best/easiest way to get to the main caps?

ALSO..ANYONE KNOW where i could get a repair manual for this thing...

so if it's stock it's a 312??? SCHWEET!!!!

Ok first leeter in my vinb is D...I was under the impression that M meant 292 and D meant 312? Am I right? someone said there are some measuremnts to verify what it is..... what and where do i measure???
