Yes my manual also stated that its no replacable but it is.

It took some work to figure it out but for $8 you can get a spring from Midwest early ford. Took me about 30 mins to get the drive to come loose and another 30min to get the C clips off. 1 hour to reassemble and install and once again the Y-block purrs like a wet kitten!!
1. If you compress the spring there is a rod that holds the drive on the shaft. Remove that and the drive comes off.
2. There is a C clip that holds the spring shaft into the drive piece that will need removed.
3. The next C clip is on opposite end of the spring. You will need to compress the end to remove it.
4. The last C clip is at the end of the the spring and will also need to be compressed to remove.
