Ford Canada Oakville ON can give the build date if you send a request along with the serial number. I asked for the build date for my convertible and they responded last week of Sept 1955 I don't have the address anymore . Being a Canadian engine there should be a stamped number on the front drivers side block just below the parting line between head.consisting of two letters and a set of numbers. Look for these numbers and it will tell year of vehicle installed. Looking for the # U mentioned Is it stamped into Block on a machined Surface small Size or is it a Casting #. On the outside Edge of Block?

I am not overly familiar with FORD of CANADA, but isn't the CAN PATENT PLATE similar to the US?

According to the Parts Catalog TT is a 1956 Engine which means it could still be the Original Engine in this Car even with an Aug. Casting Date.

The VIN 6th and 7th characters ID the car as a 1956 model. You have a CANADIAN FORD MPC/CHASSIS CATALOG don't you? Scan the PATENT PLATE page and you should be able to decipher the complete VIN. The actual ENG CASTING DATE could be for either model year depending on when 56 production ended. Maybe that info URL I posted can give you that date? Once the block is released from the casting plant, it still has to be machined and assembled. I would think all of that is done fairly closely in CAN so it wouldn't take as much lead time as it was done here.

Mine was a 56 Meteor convertible. To the best info myself and some other Canadian pers in the Crown Vic association The data plate changed from the firewall to the dogleg about December 1955. The highest serial number we know of having the dataplate on the firewall is just over 120000 There should be another dataplate on the firewall which will have a bunch of numbers stamped on it such as 427, 418, 417,430 etc these appear to be the assembly line build info for the car during the build, such as std or auto trans,OD trans, PS,PB It does not include the dealer installed options on the car ,

The numbers and letters are stamped with a 5/16 or could be 3/8" letter/ number punch. It is not cast in the block
