Cleaning up My Engine which is out and on the Stand. On the upper back of the Block beside the Distributor opening is is a Cast #. 6H5. I believe this would be a Date Code for the Casting? Would it be 1956 , Aug, 5 or? The Block Casting # is CECK6015A which is Canadian Casting and may very well be the Original Engine in this Oakville Ont Canada built Fairlane.

all canadian 292 and 312 were CECK I am aware of that. Over the Years Engines get replaced. Exchange Engines installed etc. It was good to see a Canadian Block in a Canadian Car. If that other # is a 1956 Date Code it matches the Year of the Car.

I found the Answer to my Own Question by going to Google. That Date Code is exactly what I thought is was. 1956 August 5. I don't have any way to determine when My Car was built as the Canadian Serial # Plate does not provide anything close to the Info on US built Cars which includes scheduled build Date.

With that late date it would almost seem that the engine was built for the 57 model year.

When did they change over Car Production from 1956 to 1957? The Transmission is Air Cooled but being a Canadian build they may have still been using up 55 Transmissions? Wish I was able to identify when the Car was built.

Ford Canada Oakville ON can give the build date if you send a request along with the serial number. I asked for the build date for my convertible and they responded last week of Sept 1955 I don't have the address anymore . Being a Canadian engine there should be a stamped number on the front drivers side block just below the parting line between head.consisting of two letters and a set of numbers. Look for these numbers and it will tell year of vehicle installed.

How long ago did U get this Information because I have been told they disposed of all this type of Records several Years ago? I will follow up on your Suggestion. It looks like Ford Canada Archives were transferred to University of Windsor in 1997. I will contact them and see if they have that Info in their Records. Was yours a late 55 or early 56 Model? Thanks Marv.

It would have been about 2003. The records they have is very sketchy. They could not give an exact date just they knew from serial numbers what week the production was. The water cooled converter came later in the 56 year. Is your data plate on the firewall or on the dogleg?

Its on the Dogleg. I would be happy to even get the same Info U did. That would tell me if the Block Date would correspond to the Vehicle Date. Was yours a 55 or 56?
