They are in Order. 55, 56, 57 from Top down. As per Ted I would put One on If I had One available but its not a "Show Stopper"  if not there. I can't get  One of these  locally.   No One keeps a stash of Y Block Parts. If Someone wants to send One to Me in Canada I would pay for it.
I have a oil slinger you can have just pay shipping cost  Carl

On eBay, search for "292 oil slinger" and other y block variations.  There are several options right now.

I don't think there was a Spacer used on these as Ted indicated. I was reading installation Instructions for the Camshaft which uses a Spacer not the Information for the Crankshaft. In the 56 Manual it shows a Seal but does not indicate it is a Seal until the 57 Manual came out. Could be mistaken for a Spacer. And neither the 55 or 56 Manual show a Slinger or mention One in the Text. Somebody has worked on mine at some Point because the Bearings are Standard size but not original Ford Bearings which were stamped Ford on the back. I guess they forgot to put the Slinger back in until it was too late.

THANX MARK!

That may explain the slinger usage.

BTW- The spacer is incorporated into the balancer assy itself on this design engine. Maybe LT or HT (272-292) used a separate one?

There are several on E-Bay.

The 1949/1959 MPC FINAL ISSUE shows a slinger used on the 1956/ Y (B6A 6310-B). Most likely the earlier slinger was dropped from cataloging at some point. I cannot see how you could get away without it, especially on the earlier oil return on the timing chain area.

The FE did have a slinger.

Mark, your illustrations. Can you ID them for me by sequence? Also, one has an ILL NO. Do the others?

The SM was updated quarterly, so there may be variances there.

OK. Thanks Ted. I don't have a Slinger available so it goes back together the way it was. What threw Me off was the Illustration in the 56 Manual. Not indicated as being a Seal. Looks like a Spacer. Doesn't show the Slinger at all. Doesn't show Slinger in 55 Manual either.http://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/06b096a9-c603-4d81-968e-c251.jpghttp://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/130eafc5-50bf-4b5f-bbf7-ee6c.jpghttp://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/0ede9788-9b94-4ac9-952f-88b8.jpghttp://forums.y-blocksforever.com/uploads/images/65d56c74-f2ab-4058-ba6e-452c.jpg
