I'm going to guess the meaning of the numbers after the date code on this plate. Dallas built about 900 cars a day, so 3500 plus cars in 3 days seems out of the question. I think 352 is part of the 6 digit dealer order number (this number is of ording cars only and not the dealer number) and 5 is the fifth car in the order . I could be way off so please take this information with a grain of salt.

Well that's more than what Ive gotten before.  I was figuring the number after the date code was the numbered vehicle built up to that point in time for 1956 at this dealership.

The E was throwing me for a loop and up to now, no one has been able to say anything about the E till you mentioned it was a dealer order code for the number vehicle a dealership ordered.

The transmission and rear axle codes were not stamped on the data plates  before April 1957, up to that time the stamping after the date code were left to each assembly plant. I've found that some plants that number meant units built that month  up to that date, other a dealer order code, still others  units sold in or out of their sales districts.

The "E" means that it was the 5th car in a dealer order. Dealers got a discount on shipping if the ordered a truckload of cars at a time. Here in the Northeast a truck load was 4 cars, but it is possible that there were car carriers in other parts of the country that could hold 5 cars, or the dealer might of ordered 8 cars (2 truck loads).

This is a photo of the dallas plant I cant tell exactly when this photo was taken because the cars are covered by cloth covers.  I like to think '56 but might not be might be '57 even but it appears 4 cars is a truck load even down here.

What about the rest of that Code? It should show 3 Sets of Letters/ Numbers for Build Date, Transmission, and Rear Axle as shown in my Sample Picture. Any Ideas?

That's a  very unusual Code. Not an ex Police Car maybe? Maybe Someone else here can shed some Light. I would be interested to know what it means.

Nope, grandfather bought the car new, I got photos of the car back in 1962.

That's why I have been stumped, I forgot I looked at the production code before and the E is the thing that got me wondering what could that be for.  Maybe it was something for the dallas plant but not much is around information wise about the dallas plant.
