I would recommend the 57 and up 4v intake and 57 and later dist. Keep the 4v carb in the 400 too 500 cfm range, timing it approximately 12 degree at idle being all in around 36 degrees (3000 rpms).

I had a 57 ford custom 300 4dr with a 272 2v holly that would clean the clock of my 57 ford convertible that had a later 302 V8, my friends 61 tbird 390 375 hp, and would eat 327 chevys and spit um out on take off or long run. As to this day I don't know why it ran so strong but it did and that was back in 1966 and 67. That's THE ONE I've always regretted selling.w00t

i am new to the y-block scene i just purchased a 55 victoria 272 2bbl auto from my dad and i am in the process of getting it back on the road ...i have a 4 bbl intake but it is the small flange type should i use this or try to find the one that fits the standard holly . ihope to talk to some of you guys at columbus as i will be there racing my mustang and get some pointers on these motors ...everyone says to remove it and go with a 302 etc but after last year whatching you guys run i am convinced on keeping this a y-block car. i like the nastalgia of the car and dont want to change that Smile
