If the first transmission you referred to is a 3 speed top loader it is a model 303 fully synchronized 3 speed. They came in very late Y powered trucks, Mustangs and other vehicles. It is a good transmission which can have Mustang gears installed for better ratios. Good to approx. 250 HP. Floor shift linkage can be done away with if a shifting tower from a Jeep T-150 transmission is used, mounting the shifter and forks into the tranny top.

I recently acquired a 3 speed manual transmission. I has 17-AF-7006A cast into it. It has a floor shift kit on it. I also acquired a T-10B-1 that has T10B-7 on the tail shaft. It may be a Mustang application ? ...also acquired a T-86 OD that us a top loader, not sure what year that might be. Whay I want is a T-85 OD for my 57. I have two T-85's, but they have a U joint output, probably a truck or Studebaker application. Any help appreciated,
