I'm still trying to find out how to get the tranny off my motor. It's a hydramatic tranny and a 317 y block. Got the 6 bolts going from tranny case to block off. I understand that I need to unbolt the tranny torus from the flywheel but don't know how or where this occurs. I looked into where the starter was and see the flywheel and it looks like the bolts are on the tranny side, hard to get to. Was told there are 20 nuts to remove but if what I see in there is what I need to remove, there are more like 40 or more bolts. Plus I don't see a way to get a cover off the tranny to do something from the inside.
I know I need a manual to better understand the tranny but for now I could use some advice. Thanks
