you confused me.

centerline okay. rocker arm tip. from where? assuming its on a head contacting a valve at TDC? valvetrain geometry is always confusing. i'm listening and learning.

I should have mentioned if the measurement is the same as your ECG's then they are probably the 1.54's if the measurement is longer than they are probably 1.43, if the measurement is shorter than the ECG's you may have something higher than 1.54's.

To figure the ratio for instance on the 1.54's the measurement from centerline of the shaft to the tip that rides on the valve stem is 1.54 times the length of the opposite side. The length on the side of the valves never changes, the opposite side however will vary so if they are 1.43 the opposite side of the valves will be longer.

am I confusing you yet?

Measure from centerline of the shaft to the ball of the rocker, the shorter the distance the higher the ratio.

They don't have a marking on the rockers? Try the drill bit measurement then. Chuck

Chuck, thank you for your response.  I have these, which I know are hi ratio by the casting #'s you posted. The ones I need to know about are the sealed power #1-RA-1001.  I have tried to find out through our local parts stores, but to no avail.

Thank you, Charlie

Check the sides of the rockers for a casting number. If it has ECG in it they are most likely the 1.54 high ratio rockers. If only numbers their probably 1.43's. Depending on what you plan for your engine they are both good. Higher ratio's are a little better for performance apps. There is a thread here:

that describes other ways to check. Chuck in NH
