Mark, Thanks for noticing my car in Fomoco Times. That's probably the only time it will ever be in print. Also thanks for the info on the 312 cranks. I thought the HR Deluxe article was not exactly correct. Jim

Hello Jim,Unless I am mistaken thats your car in this months FOMOCO Times(crown vic assoc.magazine).Just wanted to say thats one NICE car.Just to add my 2-cents worth to your original question:the Ford parts catalogue shows ONE only part# for ALL 312 crankshafts. At least for the carline.Don't have a truck catalogue.Regards Mark

I just read the article. It sounds like a 3 speed will be used. Maybe some of the earlier cranks need to be drilled.

Charley, Google Joe Weatherly and you'll find quite a bit about him.He was truly one of the great pioneers of what is now laughingly known as stock car racing.

A T10 also needs some removed from the input shaft when bolting to a y, they could have been refering to one of these also. There was a guy near me with a junk yard who was into 50-51 fords and mercs who had a few y block cars, my brother gave him a 51 car and he was going to give us all the y block stuff. the guy passed away about a month later and his son crushed everything in the yard by the next time we drove by. not only did we lose out on the y's but also the 51 with the flathead and overdrive my brother gave him.

If I recall correctly, he was in his eightys. This was back around 2002 so that puts him being born somewhere around 1920. Maybe this was Joe's brother? I'm sure his last name is Weatherly. I can't remember where I put his business card. There doesn't seem to be a lot of info about Joe and family on the internet. But it looks like he drove Ford in the 50s, including '57 which may be why this Weatherly was interested in my building a Y. He switched to Pontiac in the 60s

Paul: Joe Weatherly was killed in a stock car race many years ago, even before Curtis Turner was killed in an airplane crash. I don't remember the year. The yard owner could have been a member of the same family though. John in Selma, IN
