Check with the installer before pulling it apart, the last two sets I bought had several pilot bushings in them for different applications, you may just be looking at one of the spares. the kits had 2 bronze bushings each and 2 roller bearing type pilot bushing/bearings.

Thanks, that is what I thought, and hoped was not the case. Oh, well, pull it apart one more time.

That bushing needs to be in there. It supports the front of the input shaft and keeps the shaft centered with the crank.

I may have a problem. Is it possible to correctly install a clutch and pressure plate without the clutch pilot bushing in the crankshaft? I had a fellow install a clutch and pressure plate on an engine that I know did not have the bushing, new motor, and in the bunch of pieces I received back I found the brand new bushing.
