I haven't seen this Topic discussed recently. What Automatic Transmissions can be used to replace the Fordomatic?  What was the first true 3 Speed Transmission that actually started off in first automatically? What Transmissions can be adapted to Fit Y Block like a C-6 or C-4? Not really thinking AOD.. Any input appreciated.

There is an adapter available to mate an AOD to a Y-block. Although I haven't recently checked, the price for the adapter was about $1,000. My only knowledge of the swap is for 55-57 Tbirds, which requires notching the frame for clearance. Your OEM shifter will not permit manually shifting through all forward gears, but there should be no problem with automatically shifting in Drive.
