what should I look for in terms of a 4 barrel manifold for the street? Not sure of which cam, exhaust I'll be using yet but this will probably be a mild street hot rod type build. Do the factory 4 intakes perform ok? thanks-

The 1957 ford thru 64s are the best for mild street. For even more performance then step up to the Blue Thunder which is the very best at this time.BigGrin

When I got my 4 barrel intake I was told it was a 57' Nascar intake, is there such a beast and if so, whats the difference?

55, I personally never heard of that one. If it's true there be obvious grinding in the plenum and ports. You probably have a "B" like the rest of us.

Dan: the number on that 57 and later 4 Bbl intake is ECZ 9425-B. It will allow you to use the later style Holleys or other similar bolt pattern carbs, without requiring an adaptor.

there is a ECZ9425A in the classifieds now, can I use the later Holley with that or does it need to be a -B?

Dan,

The "A" has the smaller carb pad and bolt pattern. This would require an adapter for any late model four barrel carb. It also has slightly smaller runners which would limit top end power, but will probably not affect street perfomance on a 272 or 292.Tongue
