Hello from Texas,

After Maxton we headed southwest to visit more friends and relatives and to attend the Lone Star Nationals car show in Fort Worth Texas.

We spent some time in Birmingham with Reed and Bill.  They are so much fun and they will always be on our list to visit when we return to the south.

Y-Blocks were very present at the GoodGuys car show.  There were supercharged 57 sedans, E-code 61 station wagon, lots of 55-57 T-Birds, 54 thru 60 ford pickups, custom rods and rat rods.  I even had a chance to talk to the owner of the 54 Lincoln that ran at Bonneville in August.  We did our best to represent and promote landspeed racing and Y-Blocks.

I don't know how many cars were entered, but there must have been 2,000 or more.  There were well over 100 beautiful trucks and the surprise was "Classic Trucks" picked the "Finest Five" and we were one of them.  One of the editors told me he liked our truck because it was original and uncut, he also liked it because it was a "working truck" and that it had a Y-Block.  He told me to watch for coverage of the event and pictures of our truck in a near future issue.

In the awards ceremony we drove up to accept our plaque and the announcer spent some time explaining that we were the "real deal" landspeed record holders and did it with a Y-Block.  The crowd was very responsive and I sure felt proud.

We will be home just in time to attend the October 26th El Mirage event.  Our goal is to see if the "H" pipe and mufflers will help us boost our own record above 120.

Till next time............Charlie and Corene
