We used to use alum paint back in my dealership days, but I am sure that over the years paint formula has changed. I am not sure that the stuff that we have today would work, K&W copperkote or permatex would be my choice if I had to use the metal head gaskets. My question is why use them, by all accounts the modern composit gaskets are more dependable. Sure you loose a little in compression ratio, but may not be to much if your heads have been milled.K&W copperkote is always my choice on stamped steel head gaskets. Just my opinion, but I prefer steel gaskets to comp. ones. Yes you don't lose compression, but also if you install them on fresh surfaces and re-torque them properly they last forever and very hard to blow.
Don't get me wrong, I think FelPro makes a fine composite gasket and you get more fudge factor.
God Bless.
