I posted the question about converting my 55 ford fairlane from a 6volt positive ground to a 12 volt negative and decided to do so but I came across these 6 volt alternators and was wondering if anyone has tried this route before doing the 12v concersion?

If so where what do I nned to know before making the conversion? 

Claim to fame is the car was used as an extra in the movie Diner with Micky Rourke, Steve Gootenburg, Paul Riser and Kevin Bacon.
