Old Mics,

Thanks for the info.  My present arrangement is 3" high and clears everything fine, I am concerned about the extra 1/2 inch.  The 14.5" ID of the K&N may not work.  Are you using the passenger car element?  if not, I would be interested in buying it.

Thanks,

Paul

I have an original passenger car air filter. Not T Bird-Passenger car air filter.

It measures 17 5/16 O.D.

It measures 15 on the I.D.

Its 2" tall.

Be very careful as that extra inch will probably cause clearence issues under a Birds hood.

Also those carb studs being out that far could dent the hood if the hood accidently got slammed shut.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone have an passenger car E code factory or replacment aircleaner element that they could measure for me?  I found two big Purolators and cut one and added a section from the other for my car.  I measured what I have and it is about 17" OD, 15" ID and 3" high.  I found a K&N big round filter that is 17" OD, 14.5" ID and 3.5" high.  It is an #E-3813, and costs about $61.00,  I want to be sure it will fit, and that the extra height won't cause a clearence problem.  I think I would need a little more length in the carb retaining screws, one is screwed almost completely out now.  I have to do some more careful measuring and check the hood to aircleaner cleanence too.

Thanks,
