i got one head on last night and then decided to place the valley pan on the top.

seems like the intake ports on the heads hang a bit over the valley pan.

my question, will it fit once i put the other head on? the "How to Rebuild Y block" book follows as installing both heads then installing the pan cover. doesnt look easy to me.

thanks

I used a grinder to increase the size of the notch on the valley pan. This lets them clear without taking off the heads. You can see by the gasket mark how much you can take off. Chuck

Regardless of what the book says, install the valley pan before you put the other head on.
